Program

The University of the Azores will host a Blue Bio Value Ideation session, promoted under the Blue Azores program, between December 9th and 11th. Due to the pandemic, the event will be entirely virtual.

The program will take 2,5 days and in the last day the jury will choose the winners (up to 3).

The Program will award the best ideas (up to 3) by offering them (on the following three months) remote mentorship sessions and workshops to consolidate their business idea and to support them by helping them on the validation of their business model that should be achieved in the end of this period. During this period, winners will also prepare their applications for the next Blue Bio Value Acceleration Program edition in 2021.

Who can apply?

Researchers and University students and professionals in general with background in Sciences (e.g. Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Marine sciences, others) and in Management (e.g. Economics, Management, Marketing, others), as well as individuals / groups with a business idea in the field of blue bioeconomy

You don't need to have a business idea or a team, you can apply as an individual and you'll find a team to work with during the program.

A total of 25 participants will be selected taking into account these criteria. 


The selection process will favor Azores residents, followed by those with a business idea related and/or applicable to the Azores Archipelago.

Until when can I apply?

You can submit your application until December 4th.

 

You will be notified until December 7th if you have been selected.

Blue Bio Value Ideation in Azores is an initiative and collaboration between Blue Bio Value promoters with Blue Azores and University of the Azores.

Blue Azores is a partnership between the Regional Government of the Azores, the Oceano Azul Foundation and the Waitt Institute. The program intends to protect, promote, and value the blue natural capital of the Azores archipelago, by focusing on the conservation and sustainable use of resources, involving education, economy and fisheries management, together with local, regional, national and international partners.
